Härnösand Port has signed a new collaboration agreement with the Municipality of Härnösand, aiming to double the number of cruise ship calls by 2027 and further establish Härnösand as a key cruise destination in the High Coast region.

“This agreement gives us a solid and long-term platform to continue developing Härnösand as a cruise port. By working more closely and strategically with the municipality and other stakeholders, we can attract more ships and create even better experiences for both visitors and the local business community,” says Fredrik Berggren, Port Director at Härnösand Port.

The agreement includes joint efforts and coordinated resources, especially for marketing activities aimed at showcasing Härnösand’s strengths to international cruise lines.

“We already have strong cooperation with the municipality, High Coast Tourism, and High Coast Destination Development. This agreement now gives us even clearer frameworks, routines, and shared goals. It gives us a focused direction forward,” Berggren continues.

The first cruise ship of the season will arrive on May 5, when Birka Gotland docks in Härnösand — a symbolic start to a more ambitious initiative for the future.

“Cruise calls bring life and energy to the port area. They not only contribute to the local economy, but also foster pride and increase the attractiveness of the entire town,” says Fredrik Berggren.
